Fit Notes
Employers can only ask for a fit note if an employee is off work for more than 7 days in a row (including non-working days).
Your employer may however require you to complete a self-certification form (SC2) which is available from your employer or you can complete this online
FIT notes are not treated as urgent health care requests and can be backdated at the discretion of the GP, for example, from the date it was requested by the patient. Employers cannot withhold Statutory Sick Pay if the employee is late presenting a fit note.

Requesting a new Fit Note
If you need to request a new Fit Note, you must speak to a clinician before this can be issued. Please phone the practice to arrange an appointment with a clinician (telephone or face to face), or you can complete an AccuRx
You do not need a sick note for the first 7 days of an illness - you can still self-certify your illness.
