Our practice is now an active centre for Research, and we need your help!

Research Studies

We are now an active Research centre, and will be participating in various Research studies that we consider will be of particular interest and benefit to our patients.

Research studies vary considerably in scope and involvement, but there are two types of study we will be running:

Recruiting Studies

Our Research team review all the studies that are offered to us to see if they are suitable for our patient cohort and whether we are happy to ask for the level of patient participation they require. We then identify the patients who are eligible according to the study criteria, and contact them individually to see if they would like to participate. Our practice would then follow the Study procedures to request specific information and/or conduct tests, and feed back the results. Results are always anonymised so patients are not identified, and nothing can happen without patient consent! (See below.)

Mail-out Studies

These are studies being run by other NHS-related organisations. We will provide you with information about the study and you can choose whether or not you would be interested in getting involved. All further contact would be with the other organisation.

Consent

Please be reassured that you can always choose not to be involved in any study. We will always be approaching you as an individual, and we must always ask you for your consent before we can go any further. Throughout the study, at each new stage, we would ask for your consent again, so you can choose not to proceed at any stage.

Interested?

If you’d be interested in helping us by signing up as a participant, information about all current studies will be posted on the noticeboard in the waiting room. You won’t be eligible for all of them, but please do speak to your GP if you think you are!
