Clinics & Services
In addition to GP consultations the practice offers a comprehensive range of clinics and healthcare services:
Patients with asthma that is not well controlled and stable are encouraged to attend for a regular review in order to optimise control and minimise any symptoms. This review should ideally be annually. Appointments should be booked with one of our specialist nurses. However if your asthma is well controlled and stable, you can complete and return our Asthma Review questionnaire to the surgery. The questionnaire is available here:

We have two very experienced nurses within the surgery who are able to provide comprehensive care for patients with both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes. There are several other nurses within the nursing team qualified to see patients with Type 2 diabetes.
Patients are able to have their annual retinal screening done at the surgery and are recalled by the retinal screening programme.
Hypertension clinics are run by the nurses with support from the clinical pharmacists and GPs.
For patients on blood pressure medication it is very useful to do home blood pressure monitoring. See the link below on validated blood pressure machines. The BHS recommends that only properly validated BP monitors be used both in the clinic and at home. All the monitors listed on their website have been clinically validated. This means that all the machines, regardless of their cost, give reliable readings when used correctly. Please note that added cost does not equate to added accuracy.

The aim is for your blood pressure to be less than or equal to 135/85. If your blood pressure is higher than this please contact the surgery for a review.
The practice nurses do these unless you request otherwise. You will be invited for a smear in accordance with the national recall policy (unless the cytologist/consultant recommends repeating the smear more often).
Our nurses offer a comprehensive childhood immunisation service. When your baby is due its first immunisations, you will be sent an appointment for these and for your baby’s 8 week check up. We will then ask you to book further appointments to ensure that your child is fully immunised.
Flu is a serious and potentially life threatening infection. This year our Flu Clinic is being run at Gloucestershire County Cricket Club (Nevil Rd, Bristol BS7 9EJ). The Government has expanded who is being offered the flu vaccine, for more details about this please see the NHS website www.nhs.uk/conditions/vaccinations/flu-influenza-vaccine
Thanks to Gloucestershire County Cricket Club and their very generous offer of the use of their facilities, we will be able to operate a socially distanced queuing system and strict infection control measures to reduce the risk of COVID-19. We have also created dedicated clinic times for shielding patients only.
Whilst we’ve received information that all 50-64 year olds may be eligible for a free flu vaccination as part of plans to protect more people against seasonal flu, these free vaccinations will be subject to delivery later in the year.
This allows us to focus on those who are in an at risk group, such as pregnant women and people with long term health conditions. They will be given priority and offered the vaccine first; if you are in this category you will be contacted.
If you are aged 50-64 and not in one of the at risk categories you will be made aware in the coming months if you will be able to attend for vaccination. If the programme is extended this is likely to be November or December.
